Meet the Advocates

Carmen Garcia

Carmen is finishing her Master's of Divinity with a concentration in Chaplaincy at Candler School of Theology Emory University. She currently is in Clinical Pastoral Education for hospital chaplaincy with a goal to be a chaplain for natural disasters or mass casualty. Studying in the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement, under diverse religious theologians and social justice activists, has moved her to seek how the Catholic church shows up in issues affecting the care for humanity. She looks forward to learning the importance of Laudato Si, promoting it at the federal level, assisting communities at the local level and deeply understanding the correlation of Catholic Social Teaching and environmental justice.
