Meet the Advocates

Leaha currently attends Michigan State College of Law in pursuit of a J.D. She graduated summa cum laude from John Carroll University with majors in Political Science and Peace, Justice & Human Rights.
After taking an interdisciplinary biology and English course on climate change, Leaha found both her love for policy and her desire for social justice collide. Her senior capstone analyzed U.S. geography and its impact on public perception of climate change, and she has also done research on overfishing policies with the United States. The more she learns about the environment and the climate, the more she feels compelled to act. Attending a Jesuit institution, Laudato Si’ was discussed in length, which ultimately urged the class to contemplate the appearance of climate change in all facets of life. Leaha is considering pursuing a career in environmental law, where she hopes to foster meaningful and equitable regulations regarding the current and future state of the environment.
